Slapshock frontman Jamir Garcia dies at 42


OPM heavy metal band Slapshock Frontman Vladimir “Jamir” Garcia found lifeless in his home on Thursday, November 26. He was 42.

The Quezon City Police District received a report that the singer was found lifeless at his home in Brgy, Sangandaan, Quezon City, allegedly taking his own life. He was rushed to Metronorth hospital, however, declared dead-on-arrival at 10:20 AM.

Netizens expressed grief and mourned Garcia’s death on Twitter.

Slapshock, formed in 1997, is one of the most popular bands in the Philippines and even gained popularity abroad because of their eargasmic music. The band initially formed as a Nu-metal band, but eventually shifted to metalcore style.

The rock group has five members including Jamir Garcia (Lead vocals), Lee Nadela (Bass guitar), Lean Ansing (Lead guitar), Chi Evora (Drums), and Jerry Basco (Rhythm guitar, backup vocals). The quintet has received numerous awards and nominations from various award-giving bodies throughout its active years.

Some of their well-known songs include “Agent Orange,” “Sigaw,” “Misterio,” “Cariño Brutal,” “Unshakable,” and” Langit”.
