Telecommunications giant PLDT Inc. announced on Wednesday, September 23, that it would conduct an emergency maintenance activities on one of its international cable systems from 8 AM of September 25 to 5 AM of September 30.
In an advisory posted, it said its customers, and that of its subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. may experience “degraded internet connectivity during peak hours” as it works on the Asian American Gateway cable system.
Netizens have expressed concern that the scheduled maintenance may affect work from home employees and students’ online learning. However, the company assured that measures to minimize the activity’s impact are in place.
“We shall provide regular updates as the operation progresses, we thank you for your understanding,” PLDT added.
