Plant-Based Whopper now in the Philippines

Plant-Based Whopper Burger King Philippines

It’s now here! On Monday, November 16, Burger King finally launched its first plant-based burger in the country — a twist to their signature Whopper sandwich containing “0% beef”!

“The Plant-Based Whopper is finally here. 100% Flame Grilled, 0% Beef,” Burger King Philippines posted on their official Facebook page, with an ad highlighting how it is “Made from plants, tastes like beef.”

The ad encouraged customers to try it out with the hashtag #Don’tTastetheDifference.

The patty, a plant-based soy protein beef patty, comes from a plant-based company in Australia called V2Food.

Earlier this year, the Plant-Based Whopper was released in the United Kingdom. However, it received some feedback regarding how the burger is not suitable for vegans because the patty, according to a BBC report, is still “cooked on the same grill as meat burgers.”

The report also added that, unless a customer requests, the sandwich is served with mayonnaise, which is egg-based and still not vegan.

For now, the plant-based Whopper is only available in all Metro Manila and Luzon stores. Burger King stores outside of Metro Manila will start releasing it on November 26.

A la carte orders of a Whopper Junior starts at P89, available for dine-in, take-out, drive-thru, and delivery.
