P1.9M overpriced thermal scanners seized in Oro


The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), in coordination with the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI),  seized 203 units of thermal scanners from a medical supplier at Barangay Gusa, this city, on March 24.

The proprietors were unable to present the necessary Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) and License to Operate (LTO) from their supplier, as mandated by FDA Advisory No. 2020-434, and RA 9711.

The thermal scanners were being sold at Php 9,500 more than 24 times the prevailing market price.

The proprietors will be investigated for possible violations of Consumer Act of the Philippines, Price Act, RA 9711 and other applicable laws.
