Manila security guard tutors street kids during lockdown

A security guard in Manila was caught teaching street children during the lockdown on May 27.

Schools nationwide were closed down as part of the preventive measure against the coronavirus.

Rene Abelita, a pawnshop guard posted near Arellano University, was seen tutoring street kids as a teacher to street kids on how to read and write.

Netizen John Robert Flores captured the heartwarming study session and posted the image on Facebook. Hours after posting, the photo went viral as netizens were touched by the guard’s good deed.

According to Flores, whenever he walks past the area, he’d see the free study session with different kids on different days.

“Nakakaproud lang kasi kahit di nya kaano-ano, but still tinuruan nya parin kasi may busilak siyang puso,” Flores wrote.

“I salute you Kuyang SG, sana patuloy ka parin bigyan ng blessings ni Lord dahil sa mabuting at busilak kang puso para matulungan ang batang yan.”
