In memory of the victims of Typhoon Sendong, the city government of Cagayan de Oro City led the offering of flowers and candle lighting at the Sendong Memorial Wall on Wednesday, December 16.
Under the administration of Mayor Oscar Moreno through the City Housing & Urban Development Department (CHUDD), the offering was made after a Holy Mass. Officers & representatives of different Homeowners Association headed by Roger Bolanon, federation president of the city’s urban poor also attended the event.

Also known internationally as Washi, the Tropical Storm Sendong has reached its peak strength as a severe tropical storm on December 16, 2011, and made its first landfall along the east coast of Mindanao.
The storm took away more than 1,000 lives. Around 1,000 people were reported missing, 2,002 injured, and a total of 695,195 people (110,806 families) affected, which later earned its title as the world’s deadliest storm in 2011.
