IATF places Iloilo City under MECQ under resolution 74

Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) placed the city of Iloilo under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) under IATF resolution 74 on September 24.

The latest community restriction will take effect from September 25 until October 9, 2020, to control the sudden increase of confirmed cases in the city.

Furthermore, the task force also notified the public that facility-based isolation should take in asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 cases. Unless the local health officer considers a patient as vulnerable or having comorbidities and that their home meets the conditions specified in the Department of Health and the Department of the Interior and Local Government Joint Administrative Order 2020-0001, then they can opt for home quarantine.

Another exception would be when the COVID-19 Centers within the region are full, and the local government unit does not have sufficient isolation facilities.

IATF also stated that effective October 1, 2020, Boracay Island may now accept tourists from areas within a community quarantine classification of General Community Quarantine or lower, apart from travelers from Western Visayas.

With this, the agency will implement a test-before-travel and travelers will have to immediately undergo strict quarantine until the date of the travel to the island.

Age restrictions will also be relaxed; however, persons with comorbidities will remain to be strictly enforced. Likewise, airlines are advised to land at the Godofredo R. Ramos Airport in Caticlan.

Everyone is encouraged to follow minimum health and safety guidelines, as well as emergency response protocols. COVID-19 Laboratories in the local areas must remain operational.
