Ellen DeGeneres gifts brand new car to Filipina nurse in LA Flor Roz

Award-winning TV host, Ellen DeGeneres, surprises a Filipino nurse based in Los Angeles, California with a brand-new car.

In a video uploaded on The Ellen Degeneres’ Show’s official YouTube channel, DeGeneres said that they have been featuring incredible frontline workers in their “12 Days of Giveaways” this season, and showing them an appreciation for all of their efforts.

Flor Roz, a nurse, caring for COVID-19 patients, was one of the lucky ones who was highlighted in the show’s segment.

In an interview, Roz shared how difficult it has been for frontline health workers like her during the pandemic.

“I became a nurse because since I was a kid, I love helping people. The pandemic has changed everything.” Roz said. “People who are sick, since they cannot be visited by their family, I will be the one who’s gonna be by their side and let them know that there is this person who loves them.”

Roz has not been home to her husband and two-year-old son for many months now for fear that she might expose them to the virus. “It’s just heartbreaking not to see your family. But I can’t do anything but to be strong for them.”

According to Roz, she has been infected with the virus last March. It caused financial constraints to their family because she had to stop working.

When asked about how she goes to work every day, she mentioned that she and her husband share a car. “If I don’t have the car, I sometimes ask my co-workers to pick me up and I walk or sometimes I take Uber.”

At that time, DeGeneres and Andy Lassner parked by Roz’s driveway and surprised her with a car.

DeGeneres told Roz: “It’s just amazing what you’ve been doing. I know that you and your husband are sharing one car. So, I’ve partnered with Hyundai and they want to thank you for your service. They want to give you this Hyundai Palisade. This is your car. No more Ubers for you.”

She also thanked Roz for the tough job that she is doing.

“Just know how much we love you and appreciate you and when you’re exhausted, in those times that you can barely go on anymore,” the TV host said. “Just remember how many people love you and how many people are so grateful for you. Thank you for what you do.”

On Facebook, Roz said that DeGeneres changed her life forever. She said it was “a very blessed way to end my 2020.”
