MANILA, PHILIPPINES — President Rodrigo R. Duterte has signed a law that extends Air Philippines Corp.’s franchise for another 25 years.
Duterte signed Republic Act No. (RA) 11682 on April 11 and gave reporters a copy of the law on Tuesday.
Air Philippines is granted another 25 years under the franchise law to establish, operate, and maintain transport operations for the conveyance of passengers, mail, products, and property by air, both domestic and international.
Air transport services include hangers and aircraft service stations and facility maintenance and operation, as well as other services of a similar sort that may be required, convenient, or helpful as an auxiliary to aircraft transportation.
“This franchise shall be extended and in effect for a period of 25 years from the effectivity of this Act, unless sooner revoked or canceled,” the law stated.
If Air Philippines does not operate continuously for two years, the franchise will be considered revoked.
Air Philippines Corp., which operates as PAL Express under PAL Holdings Inc., is the country’s third-largest airline.
PAL’s domestic network operations include 30 cities and cities all over the country, with PAL Express operating the majority of them.
The act will take effect 15 days after it is published in the Official Gazette or a general circulation newspaper. – WhatALife!
