DOH Pre-service Scholarship Program: A Scholarship Guide

Department of Health (DOH) is offering a Pre-service scholarship program for incoming freshmen in Medicine and Midwifery for the School Year 2020-2021. The DOH Pre-Service Scholarship Program for Priority Allied Health Courses, in coordination with the Centers for Health Development (CHDs) and partnered schools, aims to provide scholarship to deserving and qualified medical students, as well as to ensure an adequate supply of service-oriented Human Resources for health who are willing to serve the unserved, underserved, hard to reach, economically underdeveloped, distressed, conflict, and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) of the country.

Requirements

  • Proof of citizenship
  • Good moral character
  • Health condition (including HBSAg screening test)
  • No existing scholarship grant
  • Passed the school admission test and other requirements
  • Low-income family
  • Proof of Residency
  • Priority Groups (as applicable):
    • Indigenous People or member of a minority group
    • Dependents of Barangay Health Workers and other government employees
    • Victim of calamities
 

Documents to be submitted

  • Birth Certificate
  • Certification from school and/or barangay
  • Physically and Mentally Fit as certified
  • by government physician, photocopy of
  • laboratory results including HBsAg screening Test
  • Affidavit of no existing scholarship grants
  • School admission test Certificate of Acceptance
  • BIR Annual Filing of Tax of Both Parents/ Guardian or BIR Tax Exemption Certificate
  • Barangay Certificate
  • National Commission on Indigenous
  • For Priority Groups (as applicable):
    • People (NCIP) Certificate (for Indigenous People or member of a minority group)
    • Certificate of Employment (for Dependents of Barangay Health Workers and other government employees)
    • Certificate from Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) or Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) (for victims of calamities)
 

Application and selection process

  1. Applicants shall apply to the DOH partner school of choice preferably within or near province or region of residence. They shall undergo and pass the screening and selection process as defined by the partner school of admission to the program/course.
  2. The partner school shall endorse the list of qualified applicants to the DOH-CHD within the region for further evaluation and validation.
  3. DOH-CHD shall then endorse the result of validation and recommendation to HHRDB for evaluation and recommendation to the PSSP Committee.
  4. The HHRDB shall endorse the list of approved scholars to concerned DOH-CHD.
