COVID-19 cases in CdeO surpass 500-mark with 10 new infections

Cagayan de Oro City reported ten new confirmed cases for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday, September 17.

In today’s press briefing, City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery announced 10 additional COVID-19 cases, of which three are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), four are local index cases; and three are local Authorized Person Outside Residence (APORs) with epidemiological links from previous cases.

The total cumulative cases for COVID-19 in the city is now 507.

Dr. Nery also announced four new recoveries, bringing the total recovery count to 297, while the death count remains at 17.

Of the 507 cumulative total, 292 are under the LSI/ROF category, with 54 active cases, one death (ROF), and 237 recovered. Meanwhile, local cases rise to 215, with 122 active cases, 16 deaths, and 60 recoveries.

498th Case: 27-year-old male, LSI from Quiapo, Manila

  • A resident of Barangay Puntod
  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on September 6
  • Brought to the City Isolation Unit (CIU)
  • Swabbed on September 10; result came out positive on September 16
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • For transfer to TTMF
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

499th Case: 9-year-old male, LSI from Malabon

  • A resident of Barangay Carmen
  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on September 6
  • Brought to CIU
  • Swabbed on September 11; result came out positive on September 16
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • For transfer to TTMF

500th Case: 5-year-old male, LSI from Tacloban

  • A resident of Barangay Carmen
  • Brought to CIU
  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via PUV
  • Swabbed on September 11; result came out positive on September 16
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • For transfer to TTMF
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

501st Case: 30-year-old female, Local APOR

  • A resident of Barangay Patag
  • Exposed to a COVID-positive patient in Butuan
  • Quarantined in Butuan on September 5; went back to CDO via private van on September 7
  • Experienced symptoms on September 12
  • Swabbed via private laboratory; result came out positive on September 16
  • Admitted at a public hospital
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

502nd Case: 59-year-old male, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Lapasan
  • Admitted at a private hospital scheduled for operation
  • Swabbed via private testing laboratory; result came out positive on September 16
  • For transfer to TTMF
  • Identified 2 household contacts; for transfer to CIU

503rd Case: 83-year-old female, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Camaman-an
  • Admitted at a private hospital, intubated; for transfer to NMMC
  • Swabbed on September 15; result came out positive on September 16
  • Identified 4 household contacts; for transfer to CIU
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

504th Case: 39-year-old male, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Carmen
  • Voluntary swabbed on September 15; result came out positive on September 14
  • Identified four close contact; for transfer to CIU
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • For transfer to TTMF

505th Case: 36-year-old female, Local APOR

  • Exposed to Case 461 & Case 424
  • A healthcare worker; last day of duty on September 11
  • Experienced symptoms on September 12
  • Isolated and admitted in a private hospital
  • Swabbed on September 14; result came out positive on September 16
  • Identified 3 household contacts; for transfer to CIU
  • For transfer to TTMF

506th Case: 46-year-old female, Local APOR

  • A healthcare worker at COVID-referral hospital
  • Exposed to Case 361 & Case 366; last day of exposure on September 2
  • Experienced symptoms on September 11
  • Swabbed on September 12; result came out positive on September 16
  • Admitted to NMMC; for transfer to CIU
  • Identified two direct contacts; for transfer to CIU
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

507th Case: 67-year-old male, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Carmen
  • Admitted at JRBGH on September 12 due to head trauma; transferred to NMMC
  • Swabbed on September 12; tested positive
  • Identified five household contacts; for transfer to CIU
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

Dr. Retuya also reported four new recoveries, namely:

  • 289th Case: 26-year-old male, Local APOR from Patag; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • 153rd Case: 26-year-old male, LSI from Camaman-an; tested negative on 6th swab
  • 350th Case: 52-year-old female, LSI from Puntod; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • 355th Case: 24-year-old female, LSI form Bulua; tested negative on 2nd swab
