Coronavirus cases in Cagayan de Oro rise to 497 with 14 new infections

Cagayan de Oro City reported 14 new confirmed cases for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday, September 16.

In today’s press briefing, City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery announced 14 additional COVID-19 cases, of which two are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), five are local index cases, and seven are local cases with epidemiological links from previous cases.

The total cumulative cases for COVID-19 in the city is now 497.

Out of the cumulative total, 188 or 37.82 percent are active cases, 15 are currently admitted at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), 118 outpatients staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), and 55 cases under the ROF/LSI category.

Dr. Nery also announced 13 new recoveries, bringing the total recovery count to 292 (58.75%). Meanwhile, the city logged another death, raising the death toll to 17 (3.4%).

Of the 483 cumulative total, 289 are under the LSI/ROF category, with 55 active cases, one death (ROF), and 233 recovered. Meanwhile, local cases rise to 208, with 118 active cases, 16 deaths, and 59 recoveries.

  • Traveled to Butuan on September 4 (work-related)
  • Visited a clinic for checkup on September 8
  • Admitted to a private hospital; swabbed; tested positive

  • Died on September 13
  • Identified 10 close contacts

495th Case: 25-year-old male, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Bulua
  • Exposed to Case 471 (Son)
  • Experienced symptoms on August 31
  • Swabbed on September 13 via private testing laboratory; result came out positive on September 15
  • Identified four direct contacts; brought to CIU
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

496th Case: 30-year-old female, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Bulua
  • Exposed to Case 495 (Indirect contact of Case 471); Brought to CIU
  • Swabbed on September 13; result came out positive on September 15
  • For transfer to TTMF

497th Case: 69-year-old female, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Patag
  • Experienced symptoms on September 7
  • Visited private hospital for checkup on September 11; admitted
  • Swabbed on September 14; result came out positive on September 15

City officials also announced three new focus containment in Barangay Lapasan: Sitio Lapaz 1 and an expanded & extended section in Sitio San Roque, and another containment in Phase 1, Zone 9, Barangay Carmen. See maps below.
