Coronavirus cases in Cagayan de Oro rise to 518 with 11 new infections

Cagayan de Oro City reported 11 new confirmed cases for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday, September 18.

In today’s press briefing, City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery announced 11 additional COVID-19 cases, of which two are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), one is a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF), and eight are local cases.

The total cumulative cases for COVID-19 in the city is now 518.

Out of the cumulative total, 181 are active cases, 19 are currently admitted at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), 123 outpatients staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), and 39 cases under the ROF/LSI category.

Dr. Nery also announced 23 new recoveries, bringing the total recovery count to 320, while the death count remains at 17.

Of the cumulative total, 295 are under the LSI/ROF category, with 39 active cases, one death (ROF), and 255 recovered. Meanwhile, local cases rise to 223, with 123 active cases, 16 deaths, and 65 recoveries.

508th Case: 60-year-old male, LSI from Manila

  • A resident of Barangay Canitoan
  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on September 4
  • Brought to the City Isolation Unit (CIU)
  • Swabbed on September 9; result came out positive on September 13 (late validation)
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • Transferred to TTMF

509th Case: 22-year-old female, ROF from the Middle East

  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on September 8
  • Brought to CIU
  • Swabbed on September 14; result came out positive on September 16
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • Transferred to TTMF

510th Case: 21-year-old female, LSI from Quezon City

  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on September 7
  • Brought to CIU
  • Swabbed on September 12; result came out positive on September 17
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • For transfer to TTMF
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

511th Case: 23-year-old male, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Carmen
  • Traveled to Camiguin Island
  • Tested positive via RDT on September 8
  • Brought to CIU on September 9
  • Swabbed on September 14; result came out positive on September 17
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • For transfer to TTMF
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

512th Case: 35-year-old female, Local APOR

  • A resident of Barangay Nazareth
  • Healthcare worker at the Department of Health 10
  • Self-isolation since September 12 due to mild symptoms
  • Swabbed on September 15; result came out positive on September 16
  • Transferred to TTMF
  • Identified close contacts; brought to CIU
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

513th Case: 57-year-old male, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Bulua
  • Exposed to Case 424 (Watcher)
  • Experienced mild symptoms on September
  • Brought to CIU on September 9
  • Swabbed on September 12; result came out positive on September 17
  • For transfer to TTMF

514th Case: 59-year-old female, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Bulua
  • Exposed to Case 424 (Watcher)

  • A resident of Barangay Lumbia
  • Social Worker
  • Exposed to Case 462 (Daughter)
  • Experienced symptoms on September 11
  • Brought to an accommodation facility
  • Swabbed on September 15; result came out positive on September 17
  • Identified 7 close household contacts; for transfer to CIU
  • For transfer to TTMF
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

517th Case: 74-year-old male, Local

  • A resident of Barangay 17
  • Experienced mild symptoms on September 13
  • Went to a private hospital; referred to JRBGH; transferred to NMMC
  • Staying at NMMC; swabbed; tested positive on September 17
  • Identified close contacts; for transfer to CIU
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

518th Case: 66-year-old male, Local APOR

  • A resident of Barangay Bulua
  • A security officer
  • Currently admitted at NMMC; no comorbidity
  • Experienced mild symptoms on September 11
  • Swabbed on September 16; result came out positive on September 17
  • Identified seven direct contacts
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

 

Dr. Retuya also reported 23 new recoveries, namely:

  • 291st Case: 19-year-old female, LSI from Pagalungan; tested negative on 3rd swab

  • 293rd Case: 25-year-old female, LSI from Tumpagon; tested negative on 3rd swab
