16 new COVID-19 cases bring Cagayan de Oro tally to 598

Cagayan de Oro City reported 16 new confirmed cases for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Tuesday, September 22.

In today’s press briefing, City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery announced 16 additional COVID-19 cases, of which one is a locally stranded individual (LSI) and 15 are local cases.

The total cumulative cases for COVID-19 in the city is now 598.

Out of the cumulative total, 219 (36.62%) are active cases, 19 are currently admitted at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), 165 outpatients staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), and 35 cases under the ROF/LSI category.

Dr. Nery also announced 8 new recoveries and one new death, bringing the total recovery and death toll to 356 and 23, respectively.

Of the cumulative total, 309 are under the LSI/ROF category, with 35 active cases, one death (ROF), and 273 recovered. Meanwhile, local cases rise to 289, with 165 active cases, 22 deaths, and 83 recoveries.

583rd Case: 33-year-old female, LSI from Talisay, Cebu City

  • A resident of Barangay Carmen
  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro port on September 11
  • Brought to the city isolation unit (CIU)
  • Swabbed on September 16; result came out positive on September 19
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • For transfer to TTMF

  • Exposed to Case 470 (Close contact)

587th Case: 27-year-old male, Local APOR

  • Healthcare worker at NMMC
  • Exposed to Case 556 (Coworker);
  • Mandatory swabbed on September 18; result came out positive on September 21
  • Asymptomatic; no comorbidity
  • 1 close contact identified; contact tracing is ongoing
  • Transferred to DOH isolation facility

588th Case: 27-year-old male, Local APOR

  • A resident in a gated community in Barangay Kauswagan
  • Pharmacist
  • Exposed to an unidentified COVID-positive patient
  • Onset symptoms on September 15
  • Swabbed on September 17; result came out positive on September 19
  • 9 close contacts identified (4 asymptomatic, 3 tested positive)
  • Transferred to DOH isolation facility

  • Onset symptoms on September 12

  • Currently admitted at a private hospital on September 19

  • Transferred to TTMF

596th Case: 38-year-old female, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Macabalan
  • Currently admitted at NMMC
  • Swabbed on September 19; tested positive
  • 8 direct contacts identified; for transferred to CIU

597th Case: 61-year-old male, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Agusan
  • Onset symptoms on September 5
  • Currently admitted at NMMC
  • Swabbed on September 19; result came out positive on September 20
  • Has asthma and hypertension
  • Transferred to TTMF

598th Case: 32-year-old female, Local

  • A resident of Barangay Carmen
  • Attended party on September 10; gathering with friends on September 12
  • Loss of sense of smell on September 19; swabbed
  • Result came out positive on September 21
  • 17 close contacts identified; for transfer to CIU

 

Dr. Retuya also reported 8 new recoveries, namely:

  • 270th Case: 31-year-old female, Local case from Kauswagan; tested negative on 4th swab
  • 284th Case: 42-year-old male, LSI from Patag; tested negative on 3rd swab
  • 344th Case: 27-year-old Local from Macabalan; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • 454th Case: 67-year-old male, LSI from Pagatpat; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • 455th Case: 17-year-old female, LSI from Pagatpat; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • 464th Case: 30-year-old male, ROF from Gusa; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • 465th Case: 30-year-old female, ROF from Tagpangi; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • 487th Case: 23-year-old male, Local from Barangay 26; tested negative on 2nd swab
